Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) is cutting ties with two companies that have stakes in the disputed Dakota Access Pipeline as he prepares to serve as President-elect Donald Trump's Energy secretary. Perry has resigned from the boards of both the developer of that $3.8 billion pipeline, Energy Transfer Partners LP, and the company trying to acquire it, Sunoco Logistics Partners LP, according to an agreement released Jan. 11 by the U.S. Office of Government Ethics. He also is shedding shares in the companies and pledged to steer clear of any matters that could affect them for at least two years.
