The House Energy and Commerce Committee is teeing up environment and energy issues to address in two broad bills, including energy and infrastructure measures, Committee Chairman Greg Walden (R-Ore.) told reporters April 26. The committee has been holding hearings on issues from ozone air standards to pipeline safety in preparation for a broader infrastructure package, Walden said. Some of those issues such as pipeline siting and the electric grid security may alternatively end up in a stand-alone energy bill that could be ready for action as soon as the third quarter, he said.
