Enbridge must shut down a pipeline crossing Lake Michigan when severe storms bring high waves and must improve its safety operations as part of a far-reaching deal between the Canadian energy company and Michigan. The Nov. 27 agreement also requires opening the company's safety information to state regulators, and it gives the company an Aug. 15, 2018, deadline to reach a long-term deal with the state for continued operations of the 645-mile Line 5 pioeline.
