Various new limitations would be placed on the use of certain ozone-depleting substances in multiple industrial sectors under a proposed Environmental Protection Agency regulation. The EPA released the proposed rule March 29 under the Clean Air Act's Significant New Alternatives Policy, which allows the agency to limit or bar the use of certain substances when alternatives pose less overall risk to human health and the environment.
