Royal Dutch Shell Plc has received regulatory approval to replace a segment of a subsea pipeline that leaked about 2,100 barrels of crude oil in the Gulf of Mexico, but as of May 23 the company still had not said what caused the segment to leak. Before deciding to end skimming for oil recovery, Shell and the U.S. Coast Guard recovered about 2,012 barrels of the spilled oil, spreading from the leak site at the Glider field, the company said.
