The addition of vapor intrusion to the Environmental Protection Agency's risk determinations for listing Superfund sites and the mitigation of those risks through innovative technology were highlighted at a conference for environmental financial professionals. Chris Villarreal, a Superfund remedial project manager with EPA's Region 6 office in Dallas, discussed the EPA's Feb. 4 proposed rule adding vapor intrusion to its Hazard Ranking System for Superfund sites. He said the agency considers a number of factors in deciding whether to add a site to the National Priorities List. He spoke at a June 5-8 conference of the Environmental Bankers Association held in Ft. Worth, Texas.
