Worldwide agricultural reform can help reduce the impacts of climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the head of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization told attendees at the FAO's five-day Committee on Agriculture, which wrapped up Sept. 30. While agricultural reform is a worldwide priority in order to improve food security and nutrition, particularly in poor countries, the process also could help lower emissions, Jose Graziano da Silva, FAO's director-general, told ministers and other government officials, researchers and nongovernmental organizations.
