The Environmental Protection Agency anticipates that biofuels produced from biomass sorghum could qualify as cellulosic fuel under the renewable fuel standard. The agency, based on a preliminary analysis of the greenhouse gas emissions attributable to the growth and transport of biomass sorghum for use in producing ethanol, said it expects that fuels produced from biomass sorghum would meet the necessary greenhouse gas reductions required to qualify for cellulosic biofuel renewable identification numbers.
