Installations of wind power in the U.S. surged sixfold in 2014 compared with the previous year, making the U.S. the largest market for the technology worldwide after China. The U.S. added 4.7 gigawatts of new onshore wind capacity in 2014 compared with 764 megawatts in 2013, largely due to the extension of the Production Tax Credit in January 2013, Bloomberg New Energy Finance said Jan. 22 in a statement. U.S. onshore wind installations now total 64.2 gigawatts.
