The Environmental Protection Agency's 'Step Two' emissions limits for wood-burning stoves and other heating appliances will be challenged by a trade association representing manufacturers of wood and pellet stoves, according to a court filing (Hearth, Patio and Barbecue Ass'n v. EPA, D.C. Cir., No. 15-1056, statement of issues filed 6/10/15). The Hearth, Patio and Barbecue Association, in a June 10 statement of issues, asked a federal appeals court to consider whether the 'Step Two' standards, which will not go into effect until 2020, are illegal. The association specifically objected to the emissions standards applicable to wood-burning heaters, residential hydronic heaters and residential forced-air furnaces.
