Two environmental groups have asked a federal district court to force the Environmental Protection Agency to act on petitions in which the groups identified alleged problems with operating permits issued by Texas to three power plants (Envtl. Integrity Project v. McCarthy, D.D.C., No. 1:14-cv-1196, lawsuit filed 7/16/14). In a lawsuit filed July 16 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, the Environmental Integrity Project and the Sierra Club said they filed petitions in 2014 asking the EPA to object to the Title V permits issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to Luminant Generating Co.
