The Environmental Protection Agency has extended public comment by one month until Sept. 2 on its unexpectedly controversial proposal that would enable the agency to collect non-tax debts by garnishing wages without a court order (79 Fed. Reg. 42,745). According to a notice published July 23, the EPA opted to extend the public comment period from the original Aug. 1 deadline "in response to requests from the public" and "to provide the public additional time to submit comments and supporting information."
