The Army's investment in renewable energy will yield "hundreds of millions of dollars" in savings, a deputy assistant secretary of the military branch said in response to the criticism from congressional Republicans about the Defense Department's clean energy spending. "Some members of Congress put forth the notion the Army was paying millions of dollars for renewables, and we're not paying for our combat forces and our training," Richard G. Kidd IV, deputy assistant secretary for the Army for energy and sustainability said. "That's a false proposition."
