摘要

Disruptions to drinking water supplies caused by chemical spills or toxic algae outbreaks can be minimized if utilities have large tanks or reservoirs for storing two or three days of water prior to treatment, an Environmental Protection Agency official said. Peter Grevatt, director of the EPA Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water, said Toledo, Ohio, could have avoided the recent disruption of its drinking water supplies if its drinking water utility had a storage tank or reservoir.
