The use of curbside gardens known as bioswales to help control combined sewer overflows in environmentally sensitive drainage areas in New York City will be expanded under a $46 million green infrastructure program. The expansion follows a pilot program demonstrating that the 255 bioswales already constructed have performed better than expected in absorbing stormwa-ter, the city Department of Environmental Protection said in a Nov. 10 announcement.
