A pair of Florida state senators proposed a statewide ban on hydraulic fracturing in a bill filed Dec. 2 for the 2015 legislative session, which begins in March. Senate Bill 166, filed by state Sens. Darren Soto (D) and Dwight Bullard (D), would prohibit any person in the state from "pumping a fluid into or under the surface of the ground to create fractures in rock for the purpose of producing or recovering oil or gas," according to the bill text.
