Improvements in the Environmental Protection Agency's emergency response system have not been matched by increases in resources to manage the information in the new system, the agency's Office of Inspector General said in a report released Feb. 19 In the report, EPA Could Improve Contingency Planning for Oil and Hazardous Substance Response, the inspector general said, "EPA regions have expanded contingency planning by creating additional plans and materials, but finds the regions cannot maintain this large volume of information with their limited funding and personnel."
