The Environmental Protection Agency will soon begin issuing individual furlough decision memos to employees, with "phase one" of the furlough process to begin on April 21, according to an email sent to agency employees. Craig Hooks, assistant administrator for EPA's Office of Administration and Resources Management, said in an April 3 email that agency employees will begin to receive their individual furlough decision letters "this week." Federal agencies are required to provide employees with a written decision describing the specific reasons for a furlough, according to guidance issued by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.
