The BP Pic official who oversaw operations at the Macondo well said April 15 that the oil-drilling crew raised no safety concerns at a meeting less than a month before a fatal blast ripped through the rig, spewing millions of barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico (In re Oil Spill by the Oil Rig Deep-water Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico on April 20, 2010, E.D. La., No. 2:10-mdl-2179, 4/15/13). John Guide, who served as the well-team leader for the Macondo project, testified the Deepwater Horizon crew made no complaints that BP officials were putting pressure on them to speed up operations during a March 30, 2010, meeting about other Gulf drilling operations. He said BP made safety a top priority on all its projects.
