The Environmental Protection Agency has found that C7 Fluoroketone is an acceptable substitute for the ozone-depleting substance halon 1211 in portable fire extinguishers in nonresidential applications, according to a final rule published April 29 (78 Fed. Reg. 24,997). EPA listed C7 Fluoroketone under its Significant New Alternative Policy program for evaluating alternatives to ozone-depleting substances.
