Some of the principal defendants in New Jersey's seven-year-old lawsuit to recover the cost of cleaning up dioxins and other contaminants in the Passaic River would pay the state a total of $130 million to resolve the claims against them under a proposed settlement announced June 11 (New Jersey DEP v. Occidental Chemical Corp., N.J. Super. Ct. Law Div., No. ESX-L-9868-05, 6/11/13). The agreement would settle claims against Repsol S.A., YPF S.A., YPF Holdings Inc., YPF International, CLH Holdings Inc., Maxus Energy Corp., Maxus International Energy Co., and Tierra Solutions Inc.
