An estimated 1,169 industrial stormwater permit holders in Washington would have to do more sampling and respond more quickly when exceeding limits under revisions proposed by the Washington Department of Ecology to a general discharge permit. The state Pollution Control Hearings Board ordered changes to the 2009 Industrial Stormwater General Permit after it received multiple appeals of the permit from both industry and environmental groups (PCHB Nos. 09-135-09-141).
