Puerto Rico has approved a law designed to reduce sources of electronic waste and guarantee proper storage and disposal. The Electronic Recycling and Disposal Act (Law 18-2012) also seeks to create a safe and environmentally sustainable management process that promotes reuse and recycling and fosters the development of electronic waste management companies.Companies with 11 or more employees must develop a recycling, reuse, and reconstruction program for all the electronic equipment used in their operations and submit an annual report to the Solid Waste Management Authority (SWMA) to demonstrate compliance with the law.
