A final agreement has been reached on a modified consent order calling for New York City to invest $187 million in the next three years in green infrastructure to control combined sewer overflows, the state Department of Environmental Conservation and the city Department of Environmental Protection announced March 13. The $187 million is intended to be the start of an estimated $2.4 billion in public and private funding over the next 18 years to install green infrastructure technologies for managing stormwater before it enters the city's combined sewer system and ultimately flows into New York Harbor, the agencies said.
