摘要

House-passed legislation that would cut nearly $400 million from the Energy Department's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy would have a "devastating" effect on the program, a senior department official said June 21. "If that holds up, it would have a devastating impact on our priorities," Steven Chalk, deputy assistant secretary for renewable energy, said during a forum on Capitol Hill held by the Sustainable Energy Coalition. Fiscal 2013 appropriations legislation (H.R. 5325) that passed the House on June 6 would fund the energy efficiency and renewable energy program at $1.45 billion, which is $374 million below the current level of $1.8 billion. The reduction is one of the largest cuts contained in the bill.
