Rep. Ed Whitfield (R-Ky.) said June 28 that the Environmental Protection Agency's proposed air quality standards for particulate matter could result in far-reaching consequences, including getting in the way of necessary road construction projects. Particulate matter is emitted from roadway construction projects, and the proposed rule could restrict such work, Whitfield said at a hearing of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy and Power, of which he is chairman.
