Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-Kan.) introduced legislation Aug. 2 that would prohibit the Environmental Protection Agency from regulating chemical facility security under the Clean Air Act's general duty clause. The bill (H.R. 6345) would clarify that EPA's mission is environmental protection, not homeland security, leaving chemical facility security under the exclusive jurisdiction of the Department of Homeland Security, Pompeo said.
