Two bills protecting concentrated animal feeding operations, including one that would limit "nuisance suits" against them, have passed the Idaho legislature and await the expected signature of Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter (R). House Bill 210, an expansion of Idaho's Right to Farm Act, would restrict lawsuits against farms that want to expand their operations. The measure also would limit nuisance complaints against established CAFOs, which critics link to water, air, and noise pollution.
