A proposal to allow certain critical uses of the soil and structural fumigant methyl bromide in 2012 has cleared review by the White House Office of Management and Budget. The Environmental Protection Agency is expected to publish a final rule authorizing the exempted critical uses of the pesticide by December. The rule would authorize the amount of methyl bromide that may be pro-duced, imported, or supplied from inventory for those uses in 2012.
