The Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy will analyze the feasibility of developing renewable energy projects at 26 current or formerly contaminated properties, including su-perfund, brownfield, and former landfill or mining sites, EPA said Nov. 4. EPA will work with DOE's National Renewable Energy Laboratory to evaluate the potential development of wind, solar, biomass, or geothermal projects at the sites, according to the agency. Some of the sites have already undergone environmental cleanup, while others are in various stages of assessment or cleanup, EPA said in a statement.
