The Environmental Protection Agency is proposing and finalizing standards that would toughen emissions standards for air toxics, such as mercury and formaldehyde, from several source categories. The agency released three proposed rules revising national emissions standards for hazardous air pollutants for ferroalloys production, mineral wool production and wool fiberglass manufacturing, and primary aluminum reduction. EPA also finalized two rules, one targeting air toxics from wood furniture manufacturing operations and shipbuilding and ship repair operations and the other targeting primary lead smelting.
