A coalition of California businesses and trade groups has teamed up to battle one of several legal actions filed nationwide asking courts and states to declare the atmosphere a resource protected under the public trust doctrine (Blades v. State, Cal., Super. Ct., No. CGC-11-501725, motion to intervene filed 11/3/11). Pacific Legal Foundation, which is representing the small coalition, said Nov. 3 it has filed a motion to intervene in the lawsuit against California. On May 4, Our Children's Trust and other advocacy groups filed the lawsuits and petitions to regulate in all 50 states as well as a separate complaint against the federal government.
