Los Angeles city officials April 1 rejected a move by the Department of Water and Power to increase electricity rates in part to finance a shift to renewable power.rnCity Council Member Jan Perry told BNA April 5 the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power did not fully disclose how the increase would be spent.rn"Now LADWP has to go back to the drawing board," Perry said. "It has three months to revise the rate increase plan."rnAt issue is a rate increase LADWP approved March 18 that included a 0.7-cent carbon-reduction surcharge the utility said would be earmarked for a renewable energy development trust fund to finance investments and purchases of renewable, energy efficient projects and create clean energy jobs (41 ER 700, 3/26/10).
