While most of the focus of carbon capture and storage research has been on power plants, the Department of Energy also is providing money for projects in other industrial sectors.rnGrants announced by the department June 10 will fund carbon capture and storage demonstration projects at a new methanol plant, at an oil refinery, and an ethanol plant.rnThe grants totaled as much as $612 million, to be matched by $368 million in private funding. The money was provided out of funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Pub. L. No. 111-5), enacted in 2009.
