BP Plc began capturing more oil June 16 from the ruptured wellhead in the Gulf of Mexico after it linked a manifold to the blowout preventer at the wellhead so that oil and natural gas could be drawn up through hoses to a vessel on the surface, where the oil and gas are burned, the company announced.The company did not yet have an estimate for the volumes of oil and gas being flared aboard the vessel, called the Q4000, BP said.Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen told reporters a few days earlier that the additional system should be able to capture 5,000 to 10,000 barrels per day of oil.
