The Southeast Compact Commission has voted to pursue legal action against North Carolina over its failure to construct a regional radioactive waste disposal facility, the commission announced July 30.rnAlthough the U.S. Supreme Court recently ruled that North Carolina did not breach its duty under the Southeast Interstate Low-Level Radioactive Waste Management Compact Commission when it decided against building the facility, "there are still equitable claims that are unresolved," the commission said. Therefore, the commission said, it voted July 29 to pursue available legal options.
