The Idaho Legislature April 16 approved a $71 million appropriations bill (H. 276) for the Idaho Department of Environment Quality in fiscal 2010.rnThe Senate passed the bill April 16 on a 34-0 vote, and the House passed the bill earlier in the month on a 53-16 vote. The bill now goes to the governor.rnDue to the current economic downturn, the general fund 2010 appropriation is 20 percent less than last year. As a result, some programs are expected to receive lower funding but will not be eliminated. The department, with 380 employees, would see a 5 percent reduction in personnel funding, Jess Byrne, a spokesman at the department, said. Earlier this year, the department eliminated its planning section due to the declining revenues in fiscal 2009, he told BNA April 17.
