An international paint and coatings manufacturer has agreed to pay $2.3 million to settle claims that it violated several state air pollution and other environmental laws at its Attleboro, Mass., facility, Attorney General Martha Coakley (D) said Oct. 28 (Massachusetts v. Mantmse-Haeuser Co., Mass. Super. Ct, Docket No. 08-4778A, 10/28/08). The Zinsser Group said that under the terms of the agreement, which was filed in Suffolk County Superior Court, it will pay $2 million in civil penalties and $300,000 toward supplemental environmental projects (SEPs) that will benefit the local community. Until recently, the facility was operated as the Mantrose-Haeuser Co, which is a subsidiary of Zinsser.
