A policy package on improving chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) security has been adopted by the European Commission aiming to strengthen EU citizens' protection from these threats. Despite the majority of global terrorist attacks being carried out by explosive devices or firearms over the last 50 years, there is still a risk that terrorist organisations may choose to use CBRN materials to commit their criminal acts, says the EU executive.
