Repetition doesn't clarify, nor do mere assertions make for an argument. But for the final and the penultimate-but-one paragraphs, Roemer's current piece (2013) asserts nothing he hadn't asserted in Roemer (2011). It should therefore be a pleasant surprise to the many who intend to submit articles to ERE that our journal has space to publish a precis by an author of his previous article here. Readers wishing to know why I am involved in the present interchange should read my response (Dasgupta 2012) to Roemer's previous article.
