Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is an executive andadministrative department of the State of Alabama. ADCNR’s Commissioner, appointed bythe Governor as a member of the Cabinet, advises the Governor and Legislature on managementof freshwater fish, wildlife, marine resources, state lands, state parks, and other naturalresources. The Department’s scope of operations includes the administration, management andmaintenance of 21 state parks, 23 public fishing lakes, three freshwater fish hatcheries, oneaquatic biodiversity center, 162 public boat ramps, 30 wildlife management areas, 6 special opportunityareas, 12 shooting ranges, a saltwater mariculture center, and 645,000 acres of trustlands managed for the benefit of several state agencies, the General Fund and Alabama TrustFund. Other Departmental functions include maintenance of a State Land Resource InformationCenter and administration of the Forever Wild Land Trust program.
