In 1971, scholar-turned-businessman, Dr George Lehmann predicted a world of permanent education - a time when the well-worn groove of schooling, post-schooling and work would be broken forever. In its place, he divined, would be a complex, technology-driven system of lifelong learning, responding to the needs of individuals at different stages of their lives (Edwards, 2005).
