摘要

Tnhe recent article ‘‘Study of Charged Particle’s Behavior in a Biological Cell Exposed to AC-DC Electromagnetic Fields’’ by Halgamuge and Abeyrathne (2011) is annumerical test of three known theories concerning mechanisms of action of electromagnetic fields (EMFs) on cells.nThese are (1) the ion cyclotron resonance (ICR) theory, proposed by Liboff and coworkers in 1985, referring to the spiralnmovement of free ions through membrane channel proteins innthe presence of the terrestrial (static) magnetic field and annadditional oscillating magnetic field (Liboff, 1985; Liboff andnMcLeod, 1988); (2) the ion parametric resonance (IPR) theory,nwhich is a quantum adaptation of Liboff’s idea on calcium ionnbinding on calmodulin instead of channel proteins, presentedna few years later (Lednev, 1991); and (3) the ion forcedvibration (IFV) theory, referring to the forced-vibration of thenfree ions in the vicinity of a cell membrane electro-sensitivenchannel induced by an external oscillating electric or magneticnfield, proposed 10 years later (Panagopoulos et al., 2000, 2002).
