摘要

A traditional feature of environmentalism has been its anti-capitalist stance.It has dominated green thought since its beginning,leading to several sustainability scenarios in which the economic organisation of society was supposed to be thoroughly transformed - despite the ultimate vagueness about the details of such change.Yet things have surely changed.The spread of green values has made capitalism more eco-friendly and environmentalism is engaged in a critical debate with liberalism about the possibility of a liberal sustainable society.Of course,both the emergence of ecological modernisation and the pace of globalisation help to explain this change.
