The envelope also includes a thank-you letter and a nifty bumper sticker that reads, "My Other Car Is a Power Plant."rnSound fanciful? Maybe not, if the electrification of private motor vehicles becomes a commercial success in the near future.rnThe key would be plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. Plug-in hybrids-with beefy batteries that enable drivers to travel short distances on electric power alone-are not available in showrooms yet, but the big automakers are working on them. General Motors, for example, hopes to begin selling the Chevrolet Volt in late 2010.
