摘要

Our study indicates that dust is the major air pollutant generated by opencast coal-mining activities. Quantification of the dust emitted is essential for evaluating the overall air-quality impacts created by opencast mining. In order to quantify mine dust, emission factor data must be developed based on site-specific conditions. Our study reveals that accurate predictions of air pollution impacts can be made before the commencement of an opencast mining project. Such predictions can allow mine operators and government officials to design effective mitigation measures at the mine's planning stage.
