Increase of External Nutrient Input Impact on Carbon Sinks in Chinese Coastal Seas

摘要

The oceanic carbon (C) pool is the largest such pool in the global ecosystem. This pool is estimated to hold some 38 000 Pg; it is increasing at the rate of 2.3 Pg C yr~(-1).It plays a pivotal role in controlling the rate of carbon dioxide (CO_2) exchange between ocean and atmosphere. Understanding the interaction of the oceanic C biogeochemical cycle and anthropogenic effects is crucial if we are to develop viable strategies for mitigating climate change due to CO_2 emissions. One of the largest anthropogenic factors is the discharge of nutrients (fertilizer,wastewater,etc.) into ocean waters,resulting in the eutrophication of coastal marine waters.
