Striking the correct balance between collecting information to support remedial and mitigation strategy versus selecting an appropriate course of action is an important problem for all contaminated sites. It is especially important on sites affected by vapor intrusion (VI), which describes the migration of volatile chemicals from soil and groundwater into the indoor air of buildings, impacting human health and leading to economic losses. One quarter of the contaminated sites within the United States contain the contaminants and conditions favorable for VI, equating to over 100 000 sites.~1
