There's a new rock star on the climate scene. Scientists recently proposed locking away massive amounts of CO_2 in peridotite, the most common rock in the earth's mantle. The idea has been garnering attention, and now experimental results published in ES&T (DOI 10.1021/es8018429) support the notion that it could actually work.
