Ai-Abed,rnNational Risk Management Research Laboratory, U.S. EPA, 2009, 43, 488-493; DOI 10.1021/ es8015815.rnDeveloping effective technologies for cleaning up the 450 million pounds of toxic and highly persistent PCBs released into the U.S. environment between 1929 and 1977 is one of the highest priorities of the U.S. EPA Office of Research and Development (ORD). In one of ES&Ts best papers of 2008, Souhail Al-Abed and colleagues at ORD's Na-rntional Risk Management Research Laboratory (NRMRL) describe "a new environmental risk management option for PCBs-contami-nated sites."
